The Financial Intelligence Unit – Argentina issued Resolution No. 3/2026
The resolution establishes a specific regime for the detection, reporting, and freezing of transactions related to the financing of the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction (PFWMD).
The regulation requires all Reporting Entities to report, without delay and within a maximum period of 24 hours, completed or attempted transactions, and to implement immediate asset-freezing measures, in line with the targeted financial sanctions of the UN Security Council.
IMPORTANT
Lists derived from UN Security Council resolutions related to PFWMD are not included in RePET.
This requires their incorporation as an additional control in list-screening processes, and each Reporting Entity must verify their proper implementation with their technology provider.
Effective date: 01/08/2026.
This regulation strengthens the national prevention system and addresses observations from the latest FATF mutual evaluation, raising the compliance standard in Argentina.
